In 2014 I launched the IRIS ART CENTRE.
Purpose of the IRIS ART CENTRE is to support artists and art students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to gain increased self-awareness and understanding of their individual creative process and to promote artistic growth and development of their artistic voice. The mission of the IRIS ART CENTRE is that all people can learn how to express themselves artistically. At the IRIS ART CENTRE, you will learn the tools and techniques that will awaken and develop your artistic potential, and establish your artistic voice.
Beginning and established artists, students and creatives from all backgrounds are welcome to apply to the IRIS ART programs. In our workshops and residencies, you get all the guidance and encouragement you need to work on your artistic expression and the development of your personal artistic voice. Groups are small and you will be given individual attention and guidance. Workshops and residencies are full board so you have the possibility to work concentrated for long stretches of time, and get into a flow.
The IRIS ART CENTRE took its name from the ancient goddess Iris. In Greek mythology, Iris is the goddess of inspiration: she brings messages from the gods to the humans. Iris travels with the speed of wind from one end of the world to the other, and into the depths of the sea and the underworld. As the goddess of communication, inspiration and new endeavors, Iris personifies the free movement and exchange of thought, bearing the gift of divine inspiration, which strikes suddenly like the startling appearance of a rainbow in the sky.
The IRIS ART CENTRE seeks to gather people from all over the world and to be a place of artistic education, exchange, experimentation, and production. A place that is open to inspiration, creativity... and ever new messages from the gods!
